ABOUT GIRL BAND
GIRL BAND is a contemporary a cappella group based in Seattle, made up of seven dynamic women. With original covers of songs ranging from the pop/indie genre to folk tunes and jazz standards, the group has developed a sound that is uniquely their own. You can catch GIRL BAND performing regularly at small venues across Seattle, including bars, cafes, farmers markets, and private venues.
Founded in 2014, the group has evolved over the years to reach its balance of seven members. In 2017, GIRL BAND participated in the Pacific Northwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes competition, and won Best Arrangement for “Planets” by Joseph (arr. Lauren Kastanas). GIRL BAND released their debut album in November 2018.

Starting with piano lessons at age 4 she began on a path of choirs and performance groups culminating in a vocal performance degree from the University of Puget Sound. She is currently pursuing her 500 hour yoga teacher certification and serves up coffee and cocktails at a few restaurants and cafes around the city.
Nancy was born and raised in Alabama. She studied Math at Seattle University, where she discovered the worlds of choral and a cappella music. She currently works at a bagel shop and loves to see the symphony or live jazz whenever possible.
Lauren is a founding member and director of GIRL BAND. She graduated from Seattle University with a degree in public administration, and currently works as a professional grant writer at a local environmental nonprofit. When she's not singing or arranging, Lauren loves riding her bike around Seattle and being near water.

Laura grew up in Spokane where she started singing Whitney Houston karaoke at age 12. A history degree, a theatre degree and a cosmetology license later, now she's a hairstylist going back to school for a masters degree in computer science. When she has free time, she loves to travel and create art.
Phoenica joined GIRL BAND in 2017. She comes to us from Arizona, by way of North Carolina. Although always a singer at heart, Phoenica is an award winning vocal percussionist. When she's not making music with GIRL BAND, she's grooving with her band The Seven Eighths, cragging, or tending to her plants.
